RALEIGH, N.C. - In partnership with the Carolina Hurricanes during National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Rex Healthcare is encouraging fans to submit stories through its month-long text campaign "Rex Beat the Odds." Fans can submit stories about how they or a loved one beat the odds in their fight with cancer, and each submission will enter fans to win a pair of Carolina Hurricanes season tickets. In addition, a text-to-win contest, held during every game in October, will allow fans to win a hockey stick autographed by the Carolina Hurricanes.
"Our annual partnership with the Carolina Hurricanes is a great way to raise awareness for cancer initiatives in our area," said Vickie Byler, director of the Rex Cancer Center. "The Caniacs are loyal supporters, and we look forward to hearing about how they've beaten the odds!"
On Oct. 25, Rex also will participate in "Hockey Fights Cancer Night" benefiting the Rex Healthcare Foundation and other local nonprofits. Visit the "Hockey Fights Cancer Night" section on the Carolina Hurricanes website to purchase tickets to that night's game against the Ottawa Senators and enter "REX" at checkout. Fans can save up to 50 percent on tickets while giving back to the fight against cancer. Additionally, the nonprofit group that raises the most money for its organization through the ticket fundraising component of the "Hockey Fights Cancer" program will be awarded a $3,000 grant check, and the second top fundraising group will receive a $2,000 check.
