Radiation Oncologist John Fakiris Joins Rex Cancer Center

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Rex/UNC Radiation Oncology practice is expanding its physician team at the Rex Cancer Center with the addition of radiation oncologist A. John Fakiris, M.D.
Dr. Fakiris is known for using new techniques in the delivery of radiotherapy and his treatment of lung and esophageal cancers, as well as brain tumors and lymphoma.
"Dr. Fakiris is a great addition to our team as he brings his expertise in thoracic oncology," said Vickie Byler, director of the Rex Cancer Center. "He will be a valued member of our thoracic multidisciplinary program and will also be responsible for building the stereotactic radiosurgery program at Rex."
Dr. Fakiris earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and fulfilled his internship in Internal Medicine at Yale University. Following his internship at Yale, Dr. Fakiris completed his radiation oncology residency at the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center.
