Boylan Clinic Offers Patients a New Model of Personalized Primary Care
Patients Enjoy Direct Access to Their Physicians, Increased Focus on Prevention and Wellness
RALEIGH, N.C. — Three internists from Boylan Healthcare, one of the oldest physician practices in Raleigh, have formed a new, affiliated clinic providing patients with round-the-clock, personalized primary care. Boylan Clinic is a new collaboration between Drs. Todd Helton, Robert Smithson and Charles Wehbie that gives patients unfettered and convenient access to their physicians, tailored education, personalized prevention and wellness plans, and more.
The physicians have begun providing care to a limited population of member patients, providing more time to focus on each patient’s needs. Patients are given their physician's phone number for direct, 24/7 access. They also benefit from extended office visits, guaranteed appointments, having a dedicated advocate to coordinate their care at the hospital and in the clinic, and more.
"With all of the changes in medicine, and more uncertainty ahead, our goal is to offer our patients a different model of care," Helton said. "We now have time to talk with our patients, go over all their concerns and come up with a plan specifically for them. It brings back the past values of medicine."
Mary Riggan and her husband have been patients at Boylan Healthcare for more than 45 years, and were eager to embrace Boylan Clinic's model of primary care. "Continuity of care was very important and we wanted to have easier access to our physician," Riggan said. "You need to be able to get in touch with your doctor when you need them. He or she, in turn, needs to be able to practice medicine the way they've been trained to do. They can't do that when they have huge numbers of patients to treat."
