Triangle East Surgery Joins Rex Surgical Specialists, UNC Health Care
Surgeons will Remain with Practice, with Locations in Smithfield and Clayton
RALEIGH, NC – Triangle East Surgery, a highly regarded surgical practice serving patients at Johnston Health, is joining forces with Rex Surgical Specialists, a team of surgeons affiliated with Rex Healthcare and UNC Health Care.
As part of the integration, the practice will change its name to Rex Triangle East Surgery as of Aug. 9. Triangle East currently specializes in general surgery, breast, thyroid, vascular and colon and rectal surgeries, as well as various laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures. The partnership will enable the practice to expand the surgical services available to support the evolving health needs of Johnston County, one of the state’s fastest-growing regions.
Drs. Dennis Koffer, James Collins, Thomas Powell and Jeri Dickinson will remain with the practice, and the office locations in Smithfield and Clayton will stay the same. The surgeons will continue to perform a wide range of surgeries at Johnston Health’s hospitals in Smithfield and Clayton. Johnston Health became part of UNC Health Care in 2013 and opened its Clayton hospital in January.
“Our integration with Rex Surgical Specialists and UNC Health Care is an exciting evolution for surgical services in our community,” said Dr. Koffer. “Johnston County is changing rapidly, and we look forward to providing much-needed care for all residents for many years to come.” Patients of Rex Triangle East Surgery will continue to receive the same excellent medical care at the same Johnston Health locations that they have been receiving for more than 30 years, now with additional access to leading research, technology and specialists offered by Rex Healthcare and UNC Health Care.
