UNC Rex Cancer Care Welcomes Oncologist Dr. Amanda Sherrod
RALEIGH, N.C. – Rex Healthcare is pleased to welcome Dr. Amanda Sherrod to the UNC Rex Cancer Care Program. Dr. Sherrod will practice at Rex Hematology Oncology Associates of Cary, one of more than a dozen practices affiliated with UNC Rex Cancer Care. She will be focused on the treatment of breast, thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers.
Dr. Sherrod is fellowship trained in hematology and oncology from Vanderbilt University, where she served as the Chief Fellow in the Division of Hematology and Oncology. She received her undergraduate degree from Marymount University and her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. She completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Sherrod is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Sherrod was previously appointed as a staff physician for Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN, where she provided end-of-life and palliative care to patients. Her research interests include caregiver burden and distress as well as pain and symptom management.
