Durham Bulls “Field of Hope” Game Raises Funds in Fight Against Women’s Cancers

Game Presented by UNC Cancer Care, UNC REX Cancer Care and Kay Yow Cancer Fund

WHO/WHAT
The Triangle is invited to attend the “Field of Hope” Durham Bulls game on Saturday, Aug. 13 to join in the fight against women’s cancers. The game, jointly sponsored by UNC Cancer Care and UNC REX Cancer Care, aims to raise awareness about cancer prevention and treatment for women’s cancers. Fans are invited to purchase special “Field of Hope” tickets for $12.99, with $5 of each ticket sold benefiting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Tickets can be purchased at rexhealth.com/fieldofhope using the promo code “PLAY4KAY.” The first 1,000 fans to present their “Field of Hope” ticket at the tables along the outfield concourse of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on game day will receive a free gift.

The Bulls will recognize survivors during the game. Additionally, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund will host a raffle with giveaways throughout th event, and the REX Mobile Mammography Unit will be on-site.

WHY
The event is in memory of former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach, Kay Yow, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 before succumbing to the disease in 2009. In December 2007, Coach Yow founded the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to the fight against women’s cancers through raising funds in support of scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
