REX Blood Services Seeks Donors to Give ‘Gift of Life’ During Critical Holiday Season

Give back this holiday season without spending a dime: Donate blood.

RALEIGH, NC - REX Blood Services is seeking donors willing to give the “Gift of Life” during its Holiday Blood Drive on Wed., Dec. 28.

Donors will enjoy free food provided by Backyard Bistro, On the Border, Firebirds, The Oak, Randy’s Pizza, Hope Valley Diner, Harris Teeter, Outback Steakhouse, Daylight Donuts and others.

Donors will also receive a free holiday ornament as a token of appreciation.

Supplies of all blood types traditionally decline during the winter months. Regular donors are often busy with holidays, family and travel. Businesses, schools and other organizations that hold regular blood drives often shut down. Flu and other seasonal illnesses also limit donations. However, the need remains high.

“Patients who receive regular transfusions to help their immune systems fight chronic illnesses or cancer don’t take a break for the holidays,” said Emilie Sanders Watson, a donor recruitment coordinator with REX Blood Services. “We want donors to remember families with loved ones in the hospital who need the gift of life.”

The Holiday Blood Drive will take place Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the REX Donor Center, 2709 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 150, Raleigh.
