REX Express Care Introduces Free Online Reservation System for Appointments

RALEIGH, N.C. – REX Express Care is introducing an online reservation system at all five locations across Wake County, making it easier for patients to schedule their urgent care visits, and reduce wait times – just in time for the traditional cold and flu season.

The free service is available starting Monday, Dec. 5, for REX Express Care clinics in Cary, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Wakefield and the newest location in west Raleigh, located just down the street from UNC REX Hospital’s main campus. Patients will be able to visit rexhealth.com/wait-times and view current wait times and reserve an arrival time based on availability.

“We hope this new online reservation system will cut down the wait times, help accommodate families’ busy schedules and improve the overall experience for our Express Care patients,” said Dr. Linwood Watson, medical director of REX Express Care. “We want our patients to be able to wait at home or in a convenient place for their appointments if they choose. This system aims to increase transparency, which is a welcome feature when someone is ill or a family member isn’t feeling well.”

The system will text reminders to patients prior to their scheduled arrival times. If the patient is running late or needs to reschedule, there is an option to select the next available time slot. The service is similar to call-ahead seating at a restaurant. REX Express Care offers a “reservation” time, though not a guaranteed appointment time. Patients can still walk into the clinic, and all patients will be seen based on severity of symptoms. Prior to seeing a provider, all patients will check-in at a computer kiosk.

At REX Express Care, highly qualified care teams are available to help patients feel better, faster. As an added convenience, lab and X-ray services are offered on-site. The clinics offer a wide range of comprehensive services and treatment of many medical issues, including:

    • Minor lacerations
    • Insect bites/stings
    • Skin rash/poison ivy
    • Cold/flu
    • Sore throat/strep
    • Seasonal allergies
    • Mild asthma
    • Earaches
    • Sutures
    • UTI/painful urination
    • Sports physicals
    • Burn/wound care

Open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., REX Express Cares are full-service urgent care facilities and accept most major insurance plans, including military plans. For more information about REX Express Care and their services, please visit www.rexhealth.com/urgent-care.
