UNC Health Care Employees to ‘Stuff’ Buses with School Supplies for Local Students
Events in August will support students in Wake, Orange and Johnston counties
RALEIGH, N.C. – Aug. 6, 2018 – UNC Health Care employees will help “Stuff the Bus” to ensure local students start the school year with the supplies they need to be successful. UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, UNC REX Healthcare in Raleigh and Johnston Health in Clayton and Smithfield will host school supply drives in August to support students in our communities. UNC REX employees will fill an entire school bus with supplies to be delivered as the traditional school year kicks off.
WHY:
UNC Health Care is committed to helping our co-workers make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Last year’s “Stuff the Bus” school supply drives in Raleigh and Chapel Hill were so successful, we decided to hold them again. At UNC REX last year, a Wake County school bus drove away stuffed with 120 boxes filled with more than 7,000 school supplies including hundreds of backpacks, 1,400 notebooks, 850 boxes of pencils and more.
WHO:
Volunteer employees at UNC REX and UNC Medical Center will help “Stuff the Bus” at the main hospitals in Raleigh and Chapel Hill on Friday, Aug. 10. Interview and visual opportunities will be available for media. To arrange interviews, contact Alan Wolf at alan.wolf@unchealth.unc.edu or 919-218-7103.
