UNC REX Opens Second Medical Office in Holly Springs, Names Leader for Planned Hospital
Tom Williams will oversee expansion to better serve fast-growing Southwestern Wake County
RALEIGH, N.C. – Jan. 10, 2018 – UNC REX Healthcare has opened a second medical office building on its Holly Springs campus, as planning continues for a 50-bed hospital nearby. In addition, UNC REX named Tom Williams as the top executive for its Holly Springs Hospital, which is expected to begin construction this summer and open in 2020.
“Our Holly Springs campus is a unique opportunity to transform what was once farmland into a top medical destination for residents and their families close to home,” Williams said. “I look forward to continuing to serve as a connection between UNC REX and one of our region’s fastest-growing communities.
Williams joined UNC REX in 2000 and has served in a number of roles, currently as vice president of ambulatory services where he oversees UNC REX’s suburban campuses. In his new role, he will work closely with the UNC REX construction team and in the community as this hospital campus expands. Williams will maintain his current responsibilities with a planned transition over time. He started his career in healthcare as a respiratory care practitioner.
The Holly Springs campus opened in late 2011 with a 30,000 square-foot medical office building. That building houses a wide range of medical services, including REX Express Care of Holly Springs, UNC Ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, laboratory and more.
The second medical office building adds 45,000 square feet to the Holly Springs campus. It will house more services to meet the needs of the growing population of Southwestern Wake County. That includes:
- REX Sleep Disorders Center
- North Carolina Surgery
- REX Vascular Specialists
- UNC Family Medicine & Pediatrics
- Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic
Plus, there will be additional services coming soon:
- North Carolina Heart & Vascular – Expansion
- REX Pulmonary Specialists – New Location
