UNC Health Care Employees to ‘Stuff’ Buses with School Supplies for Local Students
School supply drives this week will support students in Wake and Orange Counties
RALEIGH, N.C. – Aug. 14, 2019– UNC Health Care employees will help “Stuff the Bus” to ensure local students start the school year with the supplies they need to be successful. UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill and UNC REX Healthcare in Raleigh will host school supply drives this week to support students in our communities. On Friday, Aug. 16, employees will fill school buses with supplies to be delivered as the traditional school year kicks off.
WHY:
UNC Health Care is committed to helping our co-workers make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Over the past 2 years the “Stuff the Bus” school supply drives have been a great success, collecting more than 20,000 school supplies for Wake and Orange County students.
WHO:
Volunteer employees at UNC REX and UNC Medical Center will help “Stuff the Bus” at the main hospitals in Raleigh and Chapel Hill. Interview and visual opportunities will be available for media. To arrange interviews, contact Tom Hughes at Tom.Hughes@unchealth.unc.edu or (919) 923-6964.
WHEN/WHERE:
- UNC REX in Raleigh: Employees at UNC REX (as well as UNC Physician Networks practices) will collect supplies within their departments during the week of Aug. 12 for Wake County Schools. On Friday, Aug. 16, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., volunteers will “Stuff the Bus” and load the supplies onto a Wake County school bus parked outside the main hospital’s Patient Tower entrance, 4420 Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh. NOTE: Elected officials with the Wake County Board of Education are expected to stop by on Friday morning to help.
- UNC Medical Center: Volunteers will load supplies for Orange County Schools on Friday, Aug. 16, from 2 to 3 p.m., in front of the NC Cancer Hospital, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill.
