UNC Health Rex Holly Springs Hospital Marks One-Year Anniversary

The hospital has treated thousands of patients, plans hiring and expansion

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. – Nov. 1, 2022 – UNC Health Rex Holly Springs Hospital celebrates an important milestone today: its one-year anniversary of providing excellent care for one of the state’s fastest-growing regions.

Since it opened on Nov. 1, 2021, the Holly Springs hospital has:

• Delivered more than 500 babies.
• Treated about 22,000 patients in its Emergency Department.
• Performed nearly 2,000 surgeries.

“We are proud of our teammates for all of the care they have provided during the past year, and we look forward to serving our growing community for many years to come,” said Roy Tempke, chief operating officer of the Rex Holly Springs Hospital.

The 242,000 square-foot, eight-story community hospital includes 50 inpatient beds, operating rooms for a wide range of surgeries, a full-service Emergency Department, MRI, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy and much more. The hospital delivers babies with seven labor and delivery rooms, a C-section operating suite and OB Emergency bays.

UNC Health Rex recently submitted a proposal with state regulators to expand the Holly Springs hospital by adding nine more inpatient beds to keep up with projected demand.

The Holly Springs hospital, which now employs about 450 people, will host a hiring event on Thursday, Nov. 3. They are working to fill positions across the hospital, including nurses, techs, security guards, respiratory therapists, food workers and more.
