Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. and is projected to be the third leading cause of death for both males and females by the year 2020. It is estimated that 16 million Americans are currently diagnosed with COPD and that there are as many as 14 million more that have yet to be diagnosed.
