What We Offer
Rehabilitation Services
Even a brief hospital stay can deprive us of our customary feeling of independence and range of function and mobility. Patients who are discharged from the hospital and are not quite ready to return home are referred to Short-Term/Post-Acute Rehabilitation Services.
UNC REX Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Centers services include a dedicated and trained rehabilitation staff that consists of physical, occupational and speech therapists. Our staff works to ensure each plan of care is individualized to the patient's needs.
Skilled Nursing Services
UNC REX Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Centers provide superior skilled, round-the-clock nursing care. For the health and well-being of residents, staff and family members, a Registered Nurse is accessible seven days a week. Our nursing staffing levels exceed state licensing requirements. And all our highly trained staff members exhibit a dedication to patients and residents and a desire to provide the best care experience.
Our social workers assist and support the social, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and residents. They also facilitate discharge planning and identifying other resources a patient or family caregiver may need.
Whether you are here for a short-term or extended stay, you'll find that these important service and staffing components differentiate our centers from others.
Dietary Services
A registered dietician oversees the meal planning to ensure an appetizing and nutritious menu every day, which includes three meals as well as snacks. We prepare and serve all meals in accordance with residents' specific dietary needs, and we also accommodate and plan for special therapeutic diets.
We serve meals in attractive, family-style dining areas that promote fellowship and social interaction. If you are scheduling a pre-admission visit or tour, ask about joining us for a meal. Contact our Admissions Coordinator.
Outdoor Areas
Both the Apex and Raleigh centers have beautifully designed outdoor areas for residents, patients and visiting family members to enjoy.
Recreational Activities
Our experienced recreation staff coordinates an array of onsite group and individual activities, including specially-designed bedside activities for residents with limited movement. We also help arrange transportation for residents who want to participate in offsite programs and activities. Our many programs include:
- Art classes
- Bible studies
- Pet therapy
- Community events
- Music appreciation
- Exercise programs
- History programs
- Horticulture therapy
- Therapeutic Gardens
Our centers offer outdoor gardens and courtyards featuring flowering shrubs, trees and perennials with walking paths that are smooth and wide to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers.
